WHAT: My new year’s resolution this year is simple: be happy.
WHY: When I set this goal for myself I began to question how exactly I'd go about being happy. I can't just will happiness, and by no means do I just want to "look happy"—wink, wink-- thank you social media. I'm talking about that feeling of walking down a street and finding yourself smiling because you're exactly where you want to be. Accepting this challenge is forcing me to take charge of my own happiness. I can do things, go to places, and surround myself with people who do just that.
HOW: I began to think about what makes me happy…what makes me happy? So, in true type-A fashion, I started formulating a list of things, however small or large, abstract or tactile, superficial or meaningful that I believe bring me a little bit of happiness. And, then I wrote them down. I'm holding myself accountable to follow through on these "tasks" in order to reach my goal.
Here's to the pursuit of my happy lyst [see what I did there] & to the sense of accomplishment crossing things off it brings.
